Smart Choices for your Pet's Health - Keep the Tail Wagging

Our four-legged family member deserves much time, love and care, just like humans do. It is important that once we welcome them into our home, we are equipped with enough knowledge on how to promote their wellness. While we practice self-care, we should consider dog-care too. Spoil your best friend at times, because they deserve some good loving too.

Regular comprehensive checkups at least every six months will be helpful. Dogs age almost 6 to 7 years much faster than people. Hence, changes to their health happen quicker as well. Establish vet visits for a nose-to-tail examination so any problems on you pet’s health can be found sooner and treated quickly and efficiently.

Stay up-to-date with important vaccinations for your canine. Some life-threatening diseases can be prevented by providing necessary vaccines to your pet. Your trusted veterinarian will let you know and help determine he vaccine plan that’s right for your pooch.

Proper nutrition, supplements and vitamins are essential in keeping your pup healthy. It gives them the nutrients they need for optimum growth and development. Gear yourself up with better understanding of your pet’s nutritional needs, the proper food to feed depending on their condition. Know the portion control and prescription specific to their body type and needs. Know what and when to feed them.

Allot time for exercise, yet spoil them with a doggy massage. Just like humans, physical activities are important in staying fit and well. Extra pounds may contribute to bigger health problems to our pets, like diabetes, heart diseases and respiratory problems. When it’s pamper time, do not forget to give your dogs an ultimate self-care massage. It can help increase blood flow and loosen stiff muscles. Sure, he needs it after a good run.

Splurge on your pet’s grooming. Make your pet like a leader of the pack by giving him a new look or haircut. Proper grooming makes them feel comfortable and sparkly clean. Regular and appropriate bathing helps maintain a good and healthy coat and skin. Trim their nails to avoid scratches or breakage when overgrown. Dental care and cleaning are as important as bathing, so make sure that you always look out for their oral health as well. Do home-care like tooth brushing and dental chews to prevent dental diseases.

Time for some cuddle and play. Bring more joy to their lives, because the time spent with them is invaluable. The best gift you can give them is to show love and affection by allotting some quality time. It also allows you to be more in tune with their behavior, moods and personalities. You will be more in depth with their physical condition, hence, be more sensitive to their needs. You will never regret giving your time to them because they pay it back with their 100% loyalty.

If there is one thing that dog owners have in common, it is the true desire to ensure a long and happy life for their furry friends. No matter how simple your gesture will be, any loving deed we show our dogs will be outstanding for them and will contribute in giving them a joyful life. Your commitment to make them stay healthy, will keep the tail wagging!
